The 2012 Annual Meeting & Reception took on June 13 celebrated another year of success for the Fort Meade Alliance, as well as honored Rosemary Budd for her service as PresidentRosemary Budd and Deon Viergutz the last three years. Budd handed the FMA presdiency over to Deon Viergutz, who was confirmed as president by the membership that night. Deon's three-year term went into effect on July 1.

The Fort Meade Alliance members also confirmed the re-election of four directors and election of three new members to its 24-member board, which represents a diverse group of businesses and industries across the Fort Meade region. The four re-elected board members, who will serve another three-year term, are: Bill Barroll of Corporate Office Properties Trust, Col. (Ret) Gorham Black, III of Maryland Selective Service System, Debra Lilley of SAIC and Stuart Title of A.J. Properties. The three new Board Members are: Lisa Decker of Whiting Turner Contracting Company, Bill Dunahoo of Praxis Engineering and Dr. Maureen McMahonof Anne Arundel County Public Schools. They will serve a three-year term on the Board.

After the official business took place, the evening focused on Budd's unwavering committment to the Fort Meade Alliance these last three years as president. She was joined on stage by several dignitaries, congressional representatives and business leaders including Congresman Dutch Ruppersberger, Denise Nooe of Senator Barbara Mikulski's office, Brigid Smith of Congressman John Sarbanes Office, Col. Edward Rothstein of Fort George G. The Fort Meade Alliance is wrapping up the fiscal year with a list of accomplishments including the release of its 4th education and workforce white paper on cyber security, the creation of the Meade Business Connect and the inaugural Mentorship Class of 2012, the official incorporation of the FMA Foundation and the awarding of the Col. Kenneth O. McCreedy Scholarship to Meade High School’s Christopher Patrick Walker, as well as the start of a new Resiliency effort for Fort George G. Meade.

The Fort Meade Alliance currently has 280 members representing 60,000 employees in the region. Six new 5-star members have also joined the organization including Aerotek, Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp., Boeing, HP, The SI and Tower Federal Credit Union.
