The Fort Meade Alliance has re-elected 7 directors and added 5 new directors to its 25-person board, which represents a diverse group of businesses and industries through the Fort Meade region.
The re-elected board members are: Robert Hannon of Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp., Matthew Norris of Axom Technologies, Elizabeth Rendón-Sherman of LG-TEK, Gina Stewart of Merritt Construction, Steve Tiller of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, Mitch Weber of Hefner and Weber and Deon Viergutz of Lockheed Martin.
The Fort Meade Alliance also welcomes new board members: Debra Lilley of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Dr. Andrew Meyer of Anne Arundel Community College, Dr. Patrick O’Shea of the University of Maryland, Joseph Pacileo of ManTech International Corp. and Joseph Samek of Wilhelm Commercial Builders.
Ms. Lilley is Assistant Vice President and Senior Director of SAIC’s strategic development in the Maryland/I-95 corridor. Dr. O’Shea is Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering. Dr. Meyer is Vice President of Learning, Anne Arundel Community College. Mr. Pacileo is the Vice President for Cyber Operations at ManTech International Corp. Mr. Samek is Senior Vice President Director of Government Services for Wilhelm Commercial Builders.
“We are grateful these distinguished individuals have made a commitment to serve on our board,” said Rosemary Budd, president of the Fort Mede Alliance, which has more than 275 member companies representing 60,000 employees in the region. “We have a very strong organization that is led by an even stronger board. I welcome the new directors to this group and look forward to working with them as we continue to make a difference in the region.”

The FMA board members have become very active in working groups around the region in an effort to stay connected and help make a difference — from the Anne Arundel Community College STEM Advisory Board and the Fort George G. Meade Regional Ridesharing Coordination Center (RCC) Advisory Board to the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board Cybersecurity Steering Committee, Maryland Higher Education Cybersecurity Advisory Council, Maryland Commission on Cybersecurity Innovation and Excellence and the Pathways to Cybersecurity Careers Consortium.
The Fort Meade has been exceptional year of regional growth with a 22 percent increase in membership since last July. Currently there are 275 member companies representing 60,000 employees. As a direct result of this growth, the Alliance moved into its own headquarters just 5 miles away from Fort George G. Meade in an effort to serve its members more effectively.
The Fort Meade Alliance is wrapping up the fiscal year with a list of accomplishments including completing the Soldier and Family Assistance Center at Fort George G. Meade; February’s successful 4th Education and Workforce Development Forum focusing on cyber security; two Tech Mania events for 9th graders in Howard, Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, Baltimore and Harford Counties and Baltimore City and the debut of STEM Family Night at Arundel Mills.
