What is the Career Transition Program?

The Career Transition Program is designed to help transitioning military and/or their spouses match their skills to find employment with organizations right here in Maryland. The showcase is an interview day for our applicants to meet with potential employers through our matchmaking program.

 

What makes the Career Transition Showcase different than a job fair?

This program specifically works with applicants offering classes on resume building, interview preparation and skill matching. Experts will assist applicants to obtain any certifications needed throughout the process. The program is preparing job applicants for one-on-one interviews with employers on April 25 at the Career Transition Showcase. Applicants will meet with employers based on preferences selected by both the job seeker and the employer. Job seekers could potentially walk away with job offers on the day of the event.

How do I prepare for the day of event?

Applicants should upload all necessary documents such as their letter in good standing, separation orders and their resume to the online system during the application process. Applicants should are strongly encouraged to attend any necessary classes that are offered to them free-of-charge that will help enhance their job seeking skills. And lastly, applicants should rank the employers they want to meet with during the event on April 25.

 

Do I have to hold a clearance?

While not all positions require clearances, please make sure to note if you do have one. However, clearances are not necessary to apply.

 

Are the classes mandatory?

Classes are strongly encouraged but not mandatory. By attending the no-cost classes, applicants are setting themselves up for success with a potential future employer.
