In response to several requests from FMA members, November’s topic for our online MBC Monthly Meet-Up is Maryland Retirement Requirements for Business Owners. Guest speakers Tim Guilford of Guilford Retirement Services and Young Park of King Tide Advisors will walk us through the many details of the new Maryland Saves law, how it works and the pros and cons. We’ll also discuss profit-sharing plans, market downturns, class-based allocation and popular acronyms, including 401(k), CIT’s, SEP IRA’s and simple IRA’s.

About Our Speakers

Tim Guilford

Tim Guilford founded Guilford Retirement Services (GRS) for retirement plan sponsors responsible for 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit and nonqualified deferred compensation plans seeking investment management and discretionary services.

Specifically, GRS provides investment advisory and fiduciary services to organizations throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area which include government contractors, not-for-profit associations, law firms, construction and development companies, manufacturers and quasi-governmental organizations. GRS’s mission is to help these organizations design and deliver competitive retirement benefits that help them achieve their financial goals while positioning their employees to successfully retire.

Young Park

Young Park brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with expertise in broad levels of risk management. Prior to joining King Tide Advisors, Young was a top performing Relationship Manager (Senior Relationship Manager) and managed over $45 million in client/household assets. Young possesses expertise in working with military family transition planning (i.e. military retirement, surviving spouse, etc.) and goal based retirement strategies.
His past experiences includes principal owner pf the Young Park, CPCU State Farm agency in Honolulu, HI, as well as an advisor for a military affiliated credit union, in Ft. Campbell, KY. He is bilingual in Korean and the former treasurer of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) HHB Family Readiness Group.
