In moments of uncertainty, the Fort Meade Alliance continues to stand united with community partners to ensure military families receive the stability, resources, and connection they need to thrive.
On October 17th, the FMA joined forces with Blue Star Families and Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families for a special Nourish the Service event supporting 50 Fort Meade families impacted by the government shutdown. Families gathered for an evening of pizza, games, and community building while taking home “Taco ‘bout the Impact” dinner kits to continue meaningful conversations about challenges and resilience at home. The night served as a powerful reminder that when challenges arise, we are strongest when we face them together.
That spirit of collaboration continued on November 4th at the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families summit, held in partnership with Maryland Joins Forces. The gathering brought together partners across government, education, nonprofits, and military support organizations to focus on improving the experience of military families and transitioning service members in Maryland. Featuring encouraging remarks from Secretary Rothstein, program updates, and breakout table-top sessions designed to journey map key challenges, the summit cultivated dialogue, partnership, and collaboration to advance long-term support across sectors.

Partnership remains a cornerstone of outreach across the installation. Through ongoing collaboration between organizations such as the Central Maryland Chamber and the USO, families continue to have access to vital resources, including regular food distributions that offer both nourishment and community connection. “I think what the government shutdown really highlighted was the ability for the Fort Meade Community Partners to combine their time, talents, and resources to provide a bigger impact,” said Mallory Noble, Senior Center Operations Specialist Fort Meade for the USO. “It wasn’t about any one organization, it was all about how we could come together to meet the needs of our Fort Meade Community, truly living out the title of “Team Meade.” Team Meade showed up, Team Meade hosted food distributions, and Team Meade will always do what it needs to care for our people.” Whether through statewide strategic initiatives or hands-on community support at Fort Meade, the FMA’s meaningful relationships with mission-driven partners ensure that service members and their families feel seen, supported, and connected while navigating life on Fort Meade.
