Rising Stars Network Introduces New Series

What keeps top executives up at night? The FMA’s Rising Stars new Executive Speaker Series will answer that question to offer young professionals (35 and under) insight into the challenges faced by the top brass of a business.

“This speaker series is important to help develop professionals growing and expanding in their field,” said Mark Cruz, Rising Stars committee member and Business Development Account Executive at Tower Federal Credit Union. “The Rising Stars will hear form executives in their industry and take advice that will help them become the leaders they aspire to be.”

On November 4, Roxanne Wood, CEO of Boeing Intelligence & Analytics, will kick off the series.

According to Wood, her top challenge has been “repositioning people that think they’re in the right place, but they’re not. People tend to target growth positions based on what they perceive as their strength, but that’s not always an accurate picture. They may not recognize they have weaknesses that offset or dilute those strengths. They may have strengths they’re not even aware of and need to go in a different direction. People like titles, but it has to be an earned title, otherwise you’ll get very little respect and trust.”

The Executive Speakers Series, which will take place in a casual setting that allows for conversation and networking, will be a Rising Stars signature event. It will take place three times per year. The second session will take place in early 2022 with John McBeth headlining to discuss cultivating and managing high performing talent.
