Over the past few months, the Project SCOPE team has successfully expanded into middle schools, launching a 7th grade program and piloting a new 6th grade initiative.

In total, we’ve conducted 15 presentations for 7th grade students and 4 presentations for 6th grade students. In partnership with three schools — Old Mill North, Meade Middle School, and Annapolis Middle School — Project SCOPE reached more than 700 students through dynamic presentations focused on national security, security clearances, and foundational skills that support meaningful career paths.

Middle school is a pivotal time to inspire curiosity and plant seeds for future success. Project SCOPE empowers students to see the connection between their interests and real-world opportunities. We’re excited to build on this momentum with even more outreach this fall.

With support from 12 dedicated volunteers, students engaged in real-world conversations and hands-on activities that brought career exploration to life. Professionals from diverse fields, including national security, technology, engineering, and public service, offered insight into industries many students hadn’t considered before.

Organizations such as MasterPeace, Realm One, the U.S. Space Force, and the Department of Defense helped students see how their interests today can connect to the careers of tomorrow.

Student-led Q&A sessions were a highlight, with thoughtful questions on career planning, and education paths.

One student shared, “I liked hearing how [the volunteers] figured out what job was right for them.” Another noted, “I usually don’t like presentations, but this one was really cool.”
