The FMA Annual Meeting on June 18 brought together 150 attendees virtually to learn about the FMA’s impact this past year and to set their sights on the future.
The highlight of the meeting included a conversation between featured speakers Major General Omar J. Jones, IV, Commanding General at the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region, and Col. Erich C. Spragg, Garrison Commander, Fort George G. Meade. They discussed the protective measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the future for mission assurance. Other topics covered in the discussion included diversity, equality and inclusion in today’s Army, the pressing infrastructure projects for Fort Meade and the importance of schools serving Fort Meade.
We celebrated becoming one step closer to making the Education and Resiliency Center at Kuhn Hall a reality as we wait for Col. Spragg to receive the official letter from the Secretary of the Army that will allow us to officially start the renovation of the historic building.
The meeting included highlights of FMA’s impactful programs from education and workforce and in-person and virtual events to military and family support and Rising Star Network initiatives.
FMA President Doreen Harwood also reaffirmed the Fort Meade Alliance’s commitment to equality and diversity.
“At this time, it is important that we recommit to our beliefs as an organization,” Harwood said. “It’s our responsibility as leaders in the community to do better — to do more.”
Finally, attendees participated in a crowdsourcing exercise where they were asked to provide positive words to describe the future of the Fort Meade region – check out the result!
