FMA Micro Business Cohort Launches 2026 Program

The FMA’s Micro Business Cohort officially launched its 2026 program with an orientation in August.

The Fort Meade Alliance’s Meade Business Connect (MBC) Micro Business Cohort has officially launched its 2026 program year, marking the fourth time FMA has convened this initiative to support the region’s smallest firms. Since its start, the program has built an alumni group of more than 50 micro businesses, creating a growing network of companies that continue to collaborate, learn from one another, and strengthen their ties to the Fort Meade community.

A new class of companies was selected this summer and began with an orientation in August. Their first session in September featured RealmOne, which offered insights into partnering opportunities with larger contractors, and an inspiring small business success story from Angie Leinert, CEO of IntelliGenesis. These sessions are designed to show pathways forward by highlighting what has worked for others in the region.

Central to the Cohort’s value is the way it leverages FMA members and partners who are leaders from across the region.  These leaders share their capability needs and perspectives. Alongside them, FMA provides access to small business leaders who have achieved success and subject matter experts who bring knowledge in critical areas such as contracting, compliance, and talent management. Together, they provide guidance that is essential to emerging businesses looking to gain traction in the Fort Meade ecosystem.

Over the coming months, the cohort will continue learning from these leaders and experts while building lasting connections with government and industry. The program underscores MBC’s commitment to preparing micro businesses for long-term growth and success.
