Cooking Up Connections at Fort Meade

The 2026 Family Cooking Class series at Fort Meade is bringing military families together to learn healthy cooking while building community.

Hosted by the Fort Meade Alliance in partnership with Healthy Little Cooks, the first two classes of the year welcomed 124 attendees. With a total of 10 classes planned for 2026, the program continues to create a space for families to cook, learn, and build relationships together.

This program is made possible by our 2026 Annual Sponsor, The Make it Happen Fund, a family-led donor fund dedicated to turning gratitude into action. The 2026 Grocery Bag Sponsor, Pn Automation, ensures each family receives a take-home bag of fresh ingredients to continue cooking at home.

In addition to family classes, Meal in a Mug sessions continue to empower service members with practical culinary skills. Using just a mug, a microwave, and a handful of ingredients, participants learn how to prepare quick, cost-effective meals in barracks or dorm settings. Since the start of fiscal year 2026, the program has reached 98 service members through groups such as Navigating Operational Wellness (NOW) and the Defense Information School (DINFOS).
