Project SCOPE Expands 7th Grade Outreach

Project SCOPE Middle School has had a tremendous impact on 7th graders in Anne Arundel County, reaching more than 2,300 students so far this year.

Students sorting intel in a “Top Secret, or Not” game based learning activity.

The fall semester kicked off with six schools — Lindale, Arundel, Central, Marley, Phoenix Academy, and Brooklyn Park.  This semester, we are currently scheduling presentations with the other 16 AACPS schools.

Project SCOPE is shaping future minds and encouraging students to model good character by building on school culture, civics, and behavior that exudes integrity.

In February, we visited two schools — Corkran Middle School and Southern Middle School where we provided new interactive activities that included sorting intel and evaluating character profiles. Students were also active in conversations surrounding financial literacy, positive social media engagement, and protecting confidential information.

Project SCOPE is resonating with the students. At Corkran, 71 percent of students surveyed felt that SCOPE content was relevant to their future.

We encourage cleared professionals to share their career journeys during our Project SCOPE sessions. Their stories expose students to real career paths, practical life skills, and essential values. Project SCOPE is the gateway to students envisioning a future beyond middle school.
