The Fort Meade Alliance’s NextGen Leaders group is in the midst of a busy spring schedule with a wide array of networking and professional development events catering to its vastly growing group.
NextGen Leaders, which is tailored specifically for professionals aged 40 and younger from FMA member companies, has seen significant growth since its revitalization last fall. With more than 80 active members, NextGen Leaders aims to serve as a dynamic hub for the next generation of professionals in the Fort Meade area.
On March 6, the NextGen Leaders joined with AFCEA Central Maryland’s Emerging Leaders to host their inaugural Shamrock Soirée at Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Halethorpe. The sold-out event was sponsored by RealmOne, Leidos, Athenix Solutions Group, Cymertek, Pointer Technologies and RACTSOL. NextGen Leaders Committee, led by Chair Brittainy White of RealmOne, is already planning next year’s joint soirée.
On April 10, NextGen Leaders held its first Professional Development Series event – Network Like a Pro. Attendees had the opportunity to network with seasoned industry leaders as they honed their networking skills and competed to make new connections. Mike Duvall of FosterThomas and Donté Lewis of Vine Technology Solutions gave attendees strategies and tips on in person and digital networking.
Attendees then took those skills and met up with industry leaders: Christopher Gile of RealmOne, Mike Hackett of Amentum, Doreen Harwood of DEHarwood, LLC, Tina Kuhn of KaRDS Cyber Solutions, John McBeth of John McBeth, Inc., Joe Pacileo of MasterPeace Solutions, and Kate Sim of BlueHalo. The event was sponsored by 10x National Security, MPA Technologies, and COPT Defense Properties.
On May 15, the group will hold its second Pathways to Success Panel Series – Growing Your Business (Micro, Medium and Large) at Soundtrack in Columbia. Panelists include Omnyon Founder Timothy Gorski, Reflexive Concepts President Dave Knopp and 3 Vectors LLC CEO and Founder Sam Porcelli, who will give attendees a look into three companies at different phases of business growth and provide attendees with an understanding of the challenges and tactics to achieve key milestones as a business owners.
NextGen Leaders will close out the fiscal year with its End-of-Year Happy Hour on May 29 at Crooked Crab in Odenton.
